2024 Summer Internship: Andrew Mallen

During my time here as a summer intern at GGA Studios, I had the pleasure of working with some great people and learning more about architecture and civil engineering. I made many great connections for the future and fond memories.
While at GGA Studios, I aided in the creation of reports for both the NYC DOT and DOB. I was able to refine my CAD software skills, and am now more confident in my ability to use it in the future. I was also given the opportunity to go on site visits and see some of the work GGAS does in real time, which helped me gain a greater appreciation for the tasks that must be done in architecture and construction repair work.

My favorite aspect of this internship was certainly the people I had the opportunity to work with. They all created a welcoming and positive environment for me and made it easy to learn all about my duties and responsibilities for the summer. I spent many lunches with my coworkers, cracking jokes and exchanging job-related stories. Through that, I was able to understand office relationships and dynamics.
My time at GGAS was a truly valuable experience for me. Now that the summer is over, I will be returning to college, and I hope my future includes retuning to GGAS as an option.
Andrew is pursuing a Bachelor of Engineering degree in Mechanical Engineering from Rochester Institute of Technology and plans to graduate as part of RIT’s Class of 2026.
